You can have the most beautiful lingerie, perfect light and stunning makeup. If, inside, you feel judged, it shows in the photo straight away.
After photographing more than 350 women in my studio near Brussels, I’m convinced: sensuality isn’t a pose. It’s a feeling. And the real secret to looking sensual in photos is feeling safe.
What I see at the start of every session
The first minutes almost always look the same: shoulders raised, hands clenched, body frozen, jaw tight. That isn’t a lack of sensuality. It’s simply tension.
So I don’t ask you to be sexy. I just say: move slowly, breathe, let yourself exist in that pose. And everything changes. Gestures become real, hands brush the fabric, the body breathes, the eyes speak.
“I want to feel beautiful, but not vulgar”
A client told me this once, at the start of her session. I answered: it isn’t your poses that decide that, it’s your intention.
A few minutes later, she had shifted her weight onto one leg, her lips had parted slightly, and her eyes were no longer seeking approval. It wasn’t the photo that had changed. It was her. Not because she was showing more, but because she was no longer hiding.
Boudoir or erotic photography?
Boudoir photography isn’t about showing more. It shows a woman at ease with herself: lingerie, a shirt, a sheet, always within the limits you set. Nudity is never required, and you decide what feels like you.
An image can be very sensual while staying modest. What makes it strong is the confidence you read in it.
How I create that sense of safety
- We talk about your wishes and your limits before the session, and I respect them at every moment.
- I explain and show you every pose before I ask for it.
- I show you the images on the camera as we go, so you see what I see.
- Your photos stay private: nothing is published without your explicit consent.
It’s remarkable how a body goes from tense to sensual when it feels safe.
Outfits that help you feel sensual
The outfit doesn’t do everything, but it helps. The right choice is the one you feel good in.
- A bodysuit: if you could only bring one piece, it would be this one. It works on every body type.
- A white or oversized shirt: sensual without showing anything, and very reassuring to start the session.
- A sheet or a piece of fabric: it suggests more than it shows, and lets your hands play.
- Solid colours: black, white, red or nude work very well in front of the lens.
On the day, we choose three outfits together from what you bring. My detailed advice is in What to wear to a boudoir shoot.
A male photographer: what difference does it make?
It’s a fair question, and many women ask it. With me, every pose is explained and shown before I ask for it, you can say no at any moment, and nudity is never required. A professional makeup artist takes care of your hair and makeup at the start of the day, and that’s often when the stress fades. Then the session is just the two of us, at your pace. My clients talk about it in their stories.
Frequently asked questions
How can I look sensual in photos without looking vulgar?
It isn’t the poses that make the difference, it’s the intention. A woman who feels safe and no longer hides gives off a natural sensuality, even in a very modest outfit.
Do I have to pose nude for a sensual photoshoot?
No. Nudity is never required. An image can be very sensual with a shirt, a sheet or lingerie.
What if I’m very nervous?
That’s normal, almost all my clients arrive with butterflies in their stomach. They almost always disappear during makeup or in the first minutes of the session, because we start by talking, not with “stand there and smile”.
