“I’m curvy. Is boudoir really for me?” I get that question almost every week. The answer fits in one sentence: yes, and you don’t need to change anything before you come.
I photograph every body shape and every size. There is no body that is “made for it”.
What makes a beautiful boudoir photo
Not a perfect body. Light, posing and how you feel. My job is to find, with you, the angles that flatter you. Every body has its own.
- Light. Soft light from the side shapes your curves instead of flattening them.
- Weight and posture. Weight on one leg, hips slightly tilted: lines appear and your body relaxes.
- Angle. The camera at eye level or slightly above, your face gently forward: your jawline takes shape.
- Movement. A hand brushing your skin, fabric slipping: a living pose is always more flattering than a frozen one.
I demonstrate every pose myself before asking you for it, and I regularly show you the images on the camera. You see what I see.
What I don’t do
- I don’t reshape your body in retouching. My retouching stays natural: light, colour, mood. I add nothing and take nothing away.
- I don’t ask you to hide. If you’d rather a part of your body stayed out of frame, we respect that, no explanation needed. But I will never be the one asking.
- I don’t push you. Your limits are always respected, and nudity is never required.
Outfits that work
- The bodysuit. If you bring only one piece, make it this one. It works on every figure.
- High-waisted briefs. They define your waist and show off your curves.
- A men’s shirt or an oversized sweater. Sensual without revealing anything, perfect for a gentle start.
- The white sheet. Often the last look: you show less than in many lingerie photos.
The most important tip: wear your real size. Too small and lingerie digs into your skin; too big and it gapes when you move. Not sure? Email me a photo of your outfit and I’ll tell you honestly whether it will work.
On the day
A professional makeup artist takes care of your hair and makeup at the start of the day, then the session is just the two of us, at my studio in Waterloo, near Brussels. We choose three outfits together, I guide you pose by pose, and you see your photos the same day on a big screen.
Frequently asked questions
Is boudoir for me if I’m plus size?
Yes. Boudoir doesn’t need a different body than yours. The posing, the light and the outfits adapt to you, not the other way round.
Is there a maximum size for a boudoir session?
No, none. I photograph every body shape and every size.
Do you retouch to make me look slimmer?
No. My retouching stays natural: I work on light and colour, without adding to or taking anything away from your body.
I’ve never posed and I’m self-conscious. Will it be okay?
Most of my clients had never posed before. I show you every pose, we go at your pace, and you can say no at any time.
