About
Steve Hubert, boudoir photographer near Brussels
Since 2020, I have been photographing women in my studio in Waterloo, near Brussels. More than 350 of them have stepped in front of my camera. Most had never posed before.
Background
From communication to photography
I studied communication and marketing at IHECS, a communication school in Brussels, and graduated in 2005. I first worked in an advertising agency, then for about fourteen years in the pharmaceutical industry, as a medical sales representative.
Alongside that, I photographed mostly outdoor portraits, fashion portraits and street photography. What already interested me was people: their expressions, the light, the composition.
In February 2020, I started my business as a professional photographer. From the very beginning, people asked me for more sensual portraits. That’s how I discovered boudoir photography as it is practiced in the United States, and made it my specialty.
I trained with established boudoir photographers there, both on the photography itself (posing, light, photographing women of every body type) and on building my business.
The eye
An image is built
I work on the light, the composition, the poses, the expressions and the mood of every photograph. Sometimes a soft, almost natural light. Sometimes something more contrasted and graphic, with a fashion or editorial touch.
During the session, I guide you precisely: how to place your body and your hands, the angle of your face, your gaze, your movement. I never expect you to know how to pose. That’s my job.
I photograph women of every body type and every age, with very different levels of confidence. Some come to make peace with their image. Others come because they love photography, because they want to treat themselves, or because they dream of beautiful portraits. All of these reasons are equally valid. You have nothing to fix to live this experience.
The reveal
My favorite moment
It comes at the end of the day, when you discover your photographs on a large screen.
Often, a woman arrives convinced that the images in my portfolio could never work for her. Then she sees her own portraits, and realizes they do. She didn’t need to be a model, to know how to pose, or to have a different body.
That moment is what makes me love this work.
“I didn’t think I was capable of posing at all, and even less of finding myself beautiful in photos, and yet I did, and even more than that!”

Trust
You decide what is shared
Confidentiality is part of my work. At the end of the day, you fill in a sharing authorization, and you decide.
- You can allow some photographs and decline others.
- You choose whether a publication is anonymous or identifiable.
- You can also choose to share nothing at all.
No publication is needed to live the experience, and nothing is published without your consent.
Outside the studio
A few words about me
I’m Belgian and I live in Waterloo, where my studio is too. I’m Gabriel’s dad. I share my life with Rachel, an American wedding planner who specializes in high-end destination weddings, and with our dog, Smalls. The United States is a big part of my personal life, and I spend time there regularly.
I love to travel, and I have a soft spot for cars, Porsches in particular. I’m rather introverted.
I work in French, English and Dutch every day, and I can guide your whole experience in English, from our first exchanges to the delivery of your album.
If you’re coming from abroad, we prepare everything at a distance: a video call, your outfits, your expectations, the practical details. On the day, all you have to do is enjoy it.
